Is Anybody Out There?!
Tuesday 9-24
We had District Council again today and then taught some lessons, but then we got taught haha. Strey Mome is a convert of 3-4 years and her testimony is so stronggg. She read the bible in 4 months and the Book of Mormon in 2 and she's got such a love for the missionaries. Which is awesome cause that's me!! We are doing a family home evening with them and some other families in the ward which is bound to be awesome! Then we went to teach about The Godhead to a grandma which was awesome! I like those lessons cause they're more simple and I can contribute to them more!
Wednesday 9-25
Today Elder Rabe woke up really sick so he stayed home and of course I stay with him. What stinks though is we didn't know our electrical bill came so it was overdue and our electricity got shut off. The one day we were stuck in the house and could have the luxury of air conditioning for the day. So I figured out how to get that all paid and drug Elder Rabe out of bed and we went and paid it. When we came back I made him some ginger tea with honey I bought at a little market. Then listened to last general conference and cleaned and cooked, because what else can you do right??? So I cleaned so much and have battle scars on my hands from the sharp metal handles of the cupboards hahaha. Then I threw some things into the crockpot and it was so good and easyyyy!!!!! Then that night I cooked Sfingi's and they were also pretty good but not the best because I only had rice flour to work with:/ but it was still good. And since they don't really have syrup I used honey, condensed milk, and cinnamon. (Sfingi is an Italian donut.) The next morning he still fetl sick so I had time to make some french toast which was soooo yummy too (again using condensed milk, honey, and cinnamon for a substitute for syrup.)
Thursday 9-26
Already kinda started this day with the text above but anyway we did make it out of the apartment so that was nice. Yeah so today and yesterday I think I got the feeling of being a mom. And wholly smokes shout out to momssss!!!!! I cleaned the kitchen and then cooked, then it was dirty so I cleaned everyone's dishes, and then the stove and cupboards, then cooked again, then cleaned again. Then made more ginger tea for Elder Rabe. Then cleaned more!!! Then cooked dinner and dessert and went to bed (yesterdays agenda) but anyway mom job isn't for the weak let me tell you. Anyway back to today. We went to this ladies' house who had a big garden and I was in heaven. I miss my aloe farm and garden at home. She offered me beef soup but I slightly misunderstood and said I was okay to not have any. But I wanted some so badlyyyy. Anyway I made sfingis again tonight. Yummier this time.
Friday 9-27
Today was good I made more crock pot dinner and we also played volleyball with some youth and it was good to strengthen our relationship with a bunch of a non members who play volleyball at the church. Not a lot for today though.
Saturday 9-28
After studies we met a girl from America that wants to do some joint Christmas Holiday thingy. They're here for a volunteer teaching thing, idk I didn't understand all the way but she's helping teach little Cambodians so that's neat! But later in the day my MTC teacher came to Cambodia cause his wife's Cambodian. He had lunch with us and we talked a lot about why being exactly obedient is so important!! Truly so good to see his face and talk with him. I ate like a whole 8 piece pizza. Mission stomach is different lol I just can pound food all the time. So hungry 24/7. . . Anyway Elder Rabe's tire got flat and he had to sit on a miracle member's moto (like a little scooter motorcycle) to get to the bike shop. (She showed up out of nowhere and asked if we needed help) anyway so funny I got a video for it lol. Then we taught English and really focused on their Th sound and their R sound because they're really not the greatest at it hahaha. Then as we were coming back to our apartment Elder Rabe gets chased by a dog and like falls of his bike a little and then tells me later that's the absolute most scared he's been in his whole life. Quote; "PURE TERROR" so funny!!
Sunday 9-29
Today we visited a ton of members again which is so fun because they all have such strong testimonies. Well, the ones that are still coming to church that is. . .anyway so amazing. We then had Sacrament and all our recent converts came to church so that's a big win! And we almost had all of our investigators come too, so happyyyy. After that we went and gave the sacrament to the ming who can't get to church, and taught ming pola about the Word of Wisdom. Which tea is really hard for the Cambodians but she said she'll stop tonight. She's amazing!!!
Monday 9-30
P-day I woke up early and got some voice recordings out which felt good cause I haven't been able to do any for the last couple weeks cause I've been sooooooo busyyyyy. I've barely been getting this weekly out each week.
Which by the way send me a thumbs up or your favorite emoji if you read these and enjoy them. I need to know if I should be putting more or less effort into these weekly'ssss (Thank youuu :) )
Okay back to pday, we went and played some basketball and then I called my family and showed them a little bit of the streets of Cambodia. Then we went and played volleyball. Not at the church this time. At like a lowkey Cambodian casino haha they had pool and then a room in the back for gambling, but we just played volleyball so no need to worry. The Bishop also came and played with us. He's like 26 which is crazy. He's awesome!! Anyway, then we got lunch which was so good then I got a haircut and they cut my hair so short and then styled it pretty ummmm interestingly. Just trust I won't be styling it this way hahaha it will be a little more tame haha.
Anywaysssss, Always remember that your brother or son or grandson or cousin or uncle or friend Michael Acton has a testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's living and true church. Which means the Book of Mormon is true toooo. So read it so you can have its amazing power fill your life with brightnessss!
Love you all!!!
Elder Acton

ReplyDeleteSome advice? Maybe? Not sure if this will be helpful… but when I was trying to learn Portuguese ; I would focus on just listening more than studying the actual breakdown of the language. Sit and LISTEN! somehow I soon understood words, then context of various words and then eventually full sentences. It was amazing how easily I was the able to speak the languagw after because I would repeat the phrases and sentences that I had learned by ear , just from patiently listening. I don’t know. Somehow I listened, learned, and then spoke Portuguese way faster than my 6 years of Spanish Classes because I learned it differently than just studying the textbook. Try it! Maybe this perspective will help you in speaking the language more fluently quicker. Love you Michael ❤️ -(Aunt) Wendy
ReplyDeleteIt’s been awesome hearing updates on you and your journey! Man, we’ll have to tell each other of our stories when you’re back - Josh 🤙🏻
