Blessings!!
Alright fam and friends out there! It's yo boy Elder Acton and I'm here to promise that I'll get one of these out weekly for the rest of my mission. The reason why is because my mom sent me Joseph's, my younger brother, senior presentation video in which Coach Brem gave me a little chastisement for not being on top of these emails. So here I am, lol
Updates: I can't remember if I've told peeps over there in the U.S already or not but I've decided to stay another three years!!!! Just kidding, the most they'll let me extend for is 1 transfer or 1.5 months extra. Since the MTC, I've kinda wanted to extend on my mission but I didn't know if they would let me so imagine my joy when I found out that I could! What's even a bigger miracle is that I extended originally til the 27th of August, but like one week after I did so the news came out that the temple dedication for Phnom Penh happens on the 30th. So I begged President to push my day back another three days so I could join in on that historic time!!! Andddd it's a go and better yet I am serving and will be serving for the rest of my mission in the area that has the temple! So super blessed for real!!
Anyway, so this transfer has been pretty great. We were able to find 25 new teaching friends and have our goal of three people get baptized be accomplished. One in the beginning to Vatey, who is an early 30's aged gal and then one for my boy Leo, who is half African and half Khmer and is the cutest 8 year old out there. I love him to pieces!! And then our boy Van Nak, who is our hotel receptionist guy. Super lit, he's 16, but super mature guy and he loves the Lord so much too.
We had a little challenge with the other companionship here in our house of who could get more teaching friends this transfer. The loser had to buy the other dinner on top a sky restaurant thing here in the city. We beat them by one, but the free dinner wasn't even the true prize. Together, we found 49 new people who want to learn about Jesus and change their lives for the better. That's what brings real joy and happiness for me.
Anyways, also a General Authority Seventy came and toured our mission and gave us some fire instruction too. Like how to teach better from the Book of Mormon. The key point is to follow Ammon and Aaron's example of doing missionary work they're in Alma 18, 19, 20, 21, and 26. I think that's all the chapters we went over.
Anyways, I love ya'll, I'm doing good, my phone is cooked to pieces, so if there's any typos I'm blaming it on my super glitchy and "patience building" phone. I'm getting a new one soon so then I'll really be cooking in this area. I'm trying to call all the grey dots and member dots (different people's numbers and info that have been put in the system from past missionaries) and man it is a process. Literally probably 1,000 different people to contact in this area. Okay, anyways, I love ya'll and I'll send pics of some of my days' schedule in the PMG app for my fellow missionaries to see the chaos that happens.
Also, P.S. for Coach Brem tell Joseph he's got really big ears if you read this far.
Final note is that I love ya'll and so does GOD. So trust in Him and He will direct your paths.
Okay Elder Acton out-love you guys and I'll be flying home from Cambodia to U.S.A 31/8/2026 so see you when you see me
Much love
Elder Acton
