Poly-longi Choir

Image
Sunday 8-25 Well for all the regulars you've probably gotten bored of me saying this but it's just a true statement; Sundays are my favorite day, with Tuesdays at a close second of course. I can't remember if I told y'all or not but I was able to be in the poly-longi choir (poly for Polynesian, of course and bolangi for white person-sorry for my bad spelling) Anyway, so it was all the poly's and their companions. It was amazing! We got to sing "How Can I Be",  I'll add the link to the voice recording. Anyway, our Go and Do experience was also amazing because we were talking about The Book of Mormon again :))) The emphasis this week was on how it is so much more than just a history record of ancient America. The words of ancient prophets were engraved on metal plates so anything included is of great importance and shouldn't be overlooked. Anyway, long story short, The Book of Mormon is amazing and if you aren't reading it daily I would highly r...

Flying By

Image
So this week I wrote a lot less and it's because I'm kinda getting nervous for Cambodia (since I'll be leaving and talking to real Cambodians in just over two weeks) ahhhh anyway so I've been really trying to focus on the language of the spirit and Khmer. (SO instead of journaling and writing what happened this week I spent the majority of that time studying). My. Brain. Hurts. Pretty much all the time especially when I try not to speak English. Longest I've made it is four hours but I try more and more each day! Sunday 8-18 We had such a cool thunder storm during our district review! Look at the lightening in the back! We talked about how as we put everything to the Lord, He will magnify our efforts. Monday 8-19 We went and got glasses for Elder Chong and we got to eat Chipotle which was our first meal outside of the MTC but anyway these days keep flying by and I don't know where they're going Tuesday 8-20 Today was devo day and I got packages from my mom!!...

No Coincidences

Saturday 8-10 Today was actually really good, which is not what I was expecting because we didn't go to the temple today. So originally I thought it was going to be less spiritual but man was I wrong. We had our language class for three hours. At one of the sections we went to a different floor to look at a massive picture of Alma the younger praying in the woods, seeking knowledge from God. We all shared different scriptures about the power of prayer and it was a super cool experience. But it gets even better! Elder Michaud has been pretty homesick since we got here and he's been praying nightly for comfort but hasn't got anything yet. He was feeling alone and kind of abandoned, but as we were walking back from class he noticed a picture hung on the wall of two sister missionaries teaching a girl in the street. This street just happened to be his neighborhood back home. Not only that, but one of the sister missionaries' tag said "Sister Michaud." As he was s...

Heavenly Father, Are You Really There?

Image
Saturday 8-03 Today was just another fun p-day! I started it off with a beautiful morning of temple sealings (my first time!) which was so beautiful and I loved it so much. I then ate and called my parents which was also very nice. And then did laundry, then played some pickle ball and volleyball which it started pouring outside so that was so fun! But yeah, p-days are pretty uneventful for the most part. DEVO Sunday 8-04 Wow wow wow, this Sunday was amazing again, crazy huh who would think Sundays would be my absolute favorite. This week's focus was specifically The Book of Mormon and wow wow so good! Nothing in this entire world could convince me its not the true word of God! I've had the opportunity to grow my testimony with this book more than I have ever in my life! It's just crazy to think that we have the most correct book of any book on the earth in our pockets at all times. DON'T TAKE THAT FOR GRANTED. President Nelson told us that it's not enough to just ...

Trying Something New

Image
Okay, so I've seen other missionaries type their weekly updates day by day and sending them on p-days. So, that's what imma try so that ya'll can know a little bit more about my week (since my p-days are so packed and I have almost no time to send one out.) Saturday 7-27 Okie dokie so this day was so nice as always. We started full immersion for Khmer Friday and by Friday night I was so exhausted from trying to understand things so a p-day was well in order. We studied and did laundry and I called my family and told them funny stories and then went and played tons of pickle ball and volleyball. Speaking of that, I can't remember if I told you about my companion, Elder Chong. We all joke he's one of the three Nephites because he baffles us with his intelligent skills. But not only that, he didn't play sports in high school but somehow he's cracked at pickle ball, spike ball, volleyball, and even soccer! My other comp (Elder Chevrier) is like one of the best s...

Busy Life at the MTC

Image
Hey everybody yaya it's Elder Acton!  This week was crazy and there was so much going on its hard to remember everything! Long story short they have us so busy here there's no room for sin, hahahaha. Kinda a funny way of saying that I wake up, work out, shower, eat breakfast, then language study with my comps, then language study class then lunch then 3 hour language class then dinner then 3 hour language class then shower then journal then sleep haha. Soooo no room for sin or homesickness, or really anything other than what's scheduled.  I had a really amazing couple nights with my district with post devotional meetings and there definitely were some tears shed when we shared with each other! I'm going to be honest though my brain is fried tonight and I should send a lot more about my week but I can't think of stuff haha, so I'm going to try a different method for this next week and we'll see how it goes! Anyways, I hope you enjoy the photos and videos.  I...

Arriving at the Provo MTC

Image
Heyyoo, for those who want to know I'm alive and well! My first time on a commercial airplane was great and pretty smooth sailing! Elder Edwards, Anantatmula, and I spent our layover time playing uno and eating our snacks which was super fun. Unfortunately, though our flight was delayed like 30 minutes so we were late getting to the MTC and I missed some of my class Wednesday. After our class we went to a devotional and then from there we went straight to dinner and then back to the devotional. This was so crazy because I didn't even have time to unpack until 10 that night. My companions continue to amaze me though! Apparently both Elder Chong and Chevrier both know some Japanese as well. Which is difficult at times cause sometimes I compare which isn't good for me to do so I quickly try to let any feeling of doubt just motivate me to keep trying. They are great for me because they challenge me to speak more Khmer, it is just difficult sometimes.  Anyway, basically what my...
